Norwalk High School had an early dismissal at 1:30 p.m. Tuesday after an earlier shelter in place order was issued due to a report of a student with a weapon, according to school officials.
In a statement, the school said: "Out of an abundance of caution, there is an early dismissal today at Norwalk High only beginning at 1:30 pm. Buses will be available. No afterschool activities or evening programs today. Our thanks to students & staff today for following the procedures we have practiced."
The school was placed on a "shelter" alert after a student made a report to school officials.
More than 20 Norwalk police responded to the school following the report to the school resource officer.
Police reported that no arrest had been made and no weapons had been located, according to the Connecticut Post.
Parents were asked to pick up their children from school at the American Legion on County Street, across the street from the school.
